Letter from the Chairman
February 21, 2003
Dear Brethren,
This is just a short letter to let you know that the Council of Elders will be convening at the home office on Sunday, February 23, for our quarterly face-to-face conference. A lot of preliminary work takes place in the committee meetings Monday and Tuesday, then Wednesday commences five-and-a-half days of regular meetings.
Finalizing the Strategic Plan, Operation Plan and Budget for 2003-04 is a priority, in order to present it to the General Conference of Elders for ratification in May at the Annual Meeting of the General Conference of Elders. We will also put the final touches on the Annual Meeting itself, which promises to be one of the best yet. The new GCE planning committee has worked hard for several months now to produce a high-quality conference, and we hope as many elders as possible can make plans to attend.
As you can see from the agenda below, we have the usual varied assortment of topics to cover, ranging from minor business affairs for which the Council has responsibility, to critically important issues such as how to more effectively preach the gospel. Daily reports will be posted, of course, on the United Web site, and your pastor will have them as well for distribution.
As always, we ask you to remember us daily in your prayers so that God’s Spirit guides our thinking and decision-making. Thank you in advance for your heartfelt spiritual support.
In Christ’s service, with kind regards,
Clyde Kilough
Chairman
