Council of Elders Meeting Report
Monday - Tuesday, February 28 - March 1, 2005 —San Antonio, Texas
On Monday, the Council met in executive session to discuss several items of business carried over from Sunday, as well as the affirmation of the president. The result of that deliberation has been communicated directly by the chairman of the Council.
Tuesday's agenda was changed consequent to the decision made on Monday, with the Council working to finalize and unanimously adopt its own internal timeline and procedures to use in the nomination process for the office of president. According to Article 9.1 of the Bylaws of the United Church of God, it is the responsibility of the Council of Elders to choose the president. However, the Council values and is soliciting the input of the General Conference of Elders to this process in a manner to be communicated by e-mail to its members.
The entire process is intended to culminate with the Council's selection of the president on May 12, just prior to the annual meeting of the General Conference of Elders in Cincinnati, May 14-16, 2005.
