Council of Elders Videoconference Report
Milford, Ohio
Wednesday, October 10, 2018
Chairman Don Ward called the meeting to order at 4:05 p.m. Eastern, and the meeting was opened with prayer. Ten of the twelve Council of Elders (Council) members were present. John Elliott and Tony Wasilkoff were unable to attend online.
The Council began in executive session and came into open session at 4:42 p.m.
Steve Myers, pastor of the Cincinnati East congregation, gave a presentation on the possibility of purchasing a building for the local congregations in Cincinnati. The congregations of Cincinnati East, Ohio, with A.M. & P.M. congregations have outgrown the home office facility. The current challenges were explained, and purchasing an affordable facility seems to be the most feasible solution. Various facilities have been considered for at least two years, and none of them were satisfactory, or they were cost prohibitive.
The Council asked questions and discussed it for over an hour. Rick Shabi, as treasurer, and Larry Darden, as legal aid, were asked for their input as well.
After thoroughly discussing the proposal, the Council passed a resolution approving the administration to enter into negotiations for the purpose of purchasing the proposed facility. The resolution was unanimously approved by a quorum of the Council.
The Council adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
