Council of Elders Videoconference Report

Chairman Robin Webber called the meeting to order at 7:12 p.m. Eastern time, and the meeting was opened with prayer. A quorum of the Council of Elders (Council) members was present. Those absent were Carmelo Anastasi, Mark Mickelson and Donald Ward. Mark Mickelson was still on Church assignment in Africa.

The Council discussed the interpretation of the process approved by the GCE in 2013, which correlates to Bylaw 7.9.2 and by which the GCE may propose agenda items in regard to a proposal going forward. They didn’t comment on the subject of the proposal, but they specifically considered what happens when the Amendment Committee and General Counsel don’t both agree if a proposal qualifies to go forward or not.

The quorum of the Council unanimously agreed that the process requires that both the Amendment Committee and General Counsel approve a proposal for it to go forward.

The Council went into executive session at 8:05 p.m.

The Council adjourned at 8:24 p.m.
